Ahmadu Bello University has clinched the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board's (JAMB's) prize of N75 million as "The Most National Institution in 2019 Admission".
The University also emerged Second and Third as"The 2019 Institution of First Choice for Candidates to Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria" and "The Institution with the Highest Number of International Students in 2019 Admission" respectively.
The three awards were presented to the University by the Honourable Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, during the JAMB's 2nd National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Award (NATAP-M) ceremony held in Abuja today.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Kabir Bala, received the awards on behalf of ABU along with the Registrar of the institution, Malam Abdullahi Ahmed Kundila, and Admissions Officer, Malam Haruna Ali Mohammed.
There were a total of five categories of award which were presented to deserving tertiary institutions at the colourful ceremony that took place on physical and virtual platforms.
Apart from ABU which won the N75 million prize as the most national institution in 2019 admission, three others were equally presented with N75 million prize each.
The three others were University of Ilorin (as the 2019 institution of first choice for Candidates to tertiary institutions in Nigeria and as the institution with the highest number of international students in 2019 admission) as well as Federal University, Wukari which was presented with the award as the 2019 most improved institution in gender balance.
Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbese won the prize as the most compliant institution in keeping to the guidelines in 2019 admission.
It would be recalled that during the JAMB's 2018 National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit (NATAP-M) Award, Ahmadu Bello University won a prize of N25 million as the institution with the highest number of international students.
